Air France formed on October 7, 1933, as the result of the merger of several other French airlines. Between 1950 and 1990, Air France was one of the Allied forces' three main airlines with flights in and out of German airports during the Cold War. In 1990, Air France acquired a couple of its competitors to further expand operations, becoming the primary national flag carrier in France for 70 years before merging in 2003 with KLM. By 2018, Air France and its subsidiary served over 51 million passengers. Today, Air France Canada departs from Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver and Quebec City.
