About The British Newspaper Archive UK
The site is the result of a collaboration between FindMyPast and the British Library. The Library has permitted FindMyPast to scan every page in its enormous newspaper collection, dating back to 1603. Scans are done with highly advanced scanners, including some very large ones that can scan pages up to a square metre in area. This is a long-term project; new additions to the Archive are regularly announced at the Archive blog and on social media. Whilst most of the British Library collection is out of copyright, FindMyPast has also entered into agreements with several publishers so that 20th-century material can be included in the collection.
